Audition information

KHS Color guard & Winter guard

The Kempner High School Color Guard is the main visual aspect of the marching band. We travel and perform with the marching band at every football game, community performance, and contest.  The KHS Color Guard plays many roles in the marching show: 

• We are DANCERS who learn fundamentals and choreography of ballet, jazz, and modern dance

• We are ACTORS who portray the visual and emotional story of the marching band show

• We are a COLOR GUARD who performs with a variety of equipment, including flags, sabers, and rifles

After the marching season ends, indoor winter guard season begins. The KHS Winter Guard performs as its own group during the winter and spring at contests around the area and the state. Shows are performed in gyms set to a piece of pre-recorded music using the same dance and equipment techniques learned in the Fall.
