WHAT DOES VOLUNTEERING FOR THE BAND LOOK LIKE? LET US SHOW YOU!

Thank you so much for considering to chaperone and/or volunteer to help with one of the MANY things that need to be done so that our students can be successful!  It is a true honor and point of pride when our program can involve our parents and community in the successes and endeavors we have throughout our journey as a band.  Volunteering can be done in a number of different ways; from helping to chaperone one of our off campus performances to serving our students food and moving equipment alongside our wonderful student leader teams!  Our band staff of directors as well as our Booster Board Vice President help us to organize volunteers and coordinate the efforts of our community to ensure all of our support tasks are covered for the kids.   The volunteer forms above will ask some basic information about you so that we may best contact you as well as keep track of and thank you for your hours of service!   You will also have the flexibility to offer what kind of service you would like to sign up for, whether it be chaperoning, sewing and uniform alterations, providing medical support or first aid, helping to move equipment and props, serving food, or just coming to help with whatever you can!  Once the form is filled out, you will be contacted before the event is to take place by either a director or our Booster Vice President in order to confirm and give further details.  I have also added a short list to show what a chaperone volunteer duty would look like so that you can know what to expect!  As always, if you have any questions regarding any of the volunteer possibilities, do not hesitate to contact a band director or our Booster Vice President to ask questions.  We look forward to seeing you at as many events as possible and can not wait to share our successes and journeys with you!

Sample Chaperone Duty List

-Chaperones ride the bus with the kids to and from the event. One chaperone rides in the middle of the bus, and the other chaperone will ride in the back of the bus to ensure maximum coverage!

-Roll call is taken before departure from KHS and leaving the event so that we ensure we all stay together.

-Chaperones often help put plumes in the shakos (feathers in the marching band hats) while the band is warming up to make sure we look our best before our performance!

-Chaperones help keep us hydrated by  filling water jugs when the band leaves the stands for half-time performances.

-A small team of Chaperones help us clear our performance stage by picking music up off the field between Dance Team and Band Performance at halftime.

-Students are only allowed to sit in pairs of the same sex on the bus.

-With the size of our band growing, it is important to keep track of everyone!  During the event students are escorted to the bathroom in pairs by a chaperone to ensure everyone stays safe and doesn't get separated.

-With so many students, the band directors can't do it all alone and need help making sure our students' needs are taken care of! Chaperones help by staying with the band at all times during the event in case one of our kids needs help or assistance.
